Breaking News! An exciting new outdoor exhibit at the Robinson Nature...
The James and Anne Robinson Foundation
In 2003, Anne Robinson established the James and Anne Robinson Foundation, originally called the Middle Patuxent Nature Center Foundation, with the purpose of building a nature center on her beloved property beside the Middle Patuxent River. As Anne wrote near the end of her life, “I have become part of the Property, and the Property has become part of me.” Her desire was that the land could “…serve as a source of inspiration, education and beauty for the general public.”
The Robinson Foundation worked with Howard County Recreation and Parks Department to transfer ownership of the Robinson’s property to the County for the sole purpose of building a nature center. Anne Robinson generously donated back to the County half the proceeds of the sale of the land to provide the initial funding for the Center.
Drawing on the legacy of Anne Robinson, the Robinson Foundation continues to support environmental education initiatives in and around Howard County, MD. The primary focus of the Foundation is to support the Robinson Nature Center; other focal areas include the teaching of natural science programs and the ethics of environmental stewardship and sustainability.
